For many years, the six tribes, Water, with the power to control the waves, Fire, with the ability to conjure and control flames from the dryness in the air, Wind, with the ability to control the wind's direction and conjure up storms, Earth, with the ability to create hills just by stomping feet to the ground, Light, with the ability to purify, and Dark, with the ability to use and meld with the shadows, have been at peace. They prospered in their friendship, each tribe being able to make a certain resource that the others needed. They traded, and along with trading spread stories.
One of the stories led to something horrible. It told of a god who blessed the tribes, but each with their own power, and their own curse. Darkness had the upper hand over earth, for it blackened it's lands. Earth was powerful against air, for it could stop the wind from blowing past it's mountains. Wind was powerful against water, for it could control it's tides. Water had power against fire, for it suffocated fire. Fire had a distinct advantage against light, for it could turn the light too bright for it to see. The light had distinct powers against the darkness, for it could brighten the shadows.
This story gave all the tribes the idea to attack eachother, but eventually the story was changed, making all the tribes attack any other tribe in site.
They rage war against one another, attacking by ship, by sky, and by land. They raze the opposing villages' crops, leaving people to starve.
But still, there are allies in this in going war.
The fire has allied the dark tribe because Fire destroys the light which destroys the darkness. Light allied the water tribe, for the water tribe destroys the fire which kills the light. Wind and earth, even though one being able to destroy the other, banded together, using their differences to try and end the war, and become victorious.
Each tribe has proclaimed a war leader to lead them in battle.
This all just goes to show, passing stories can hurt.
