Vanyel leaned over the body of his former lover, his eyes red and puffy with no more tears to shed. He held his Lover to his chest, pleading for him to wake up. The fact that Aaron had grown cold and still… that fact was meaningless. “I never understood why you were always so secretive. Now that I finally know, now that you finally told me… now it doesn’t even matter!” The man that had killed Aaron was gone… Aaron’s soul had taken him as he left this world. But that was no comparison for the price of his soul mates life. Aaron… that bastard, he had died… died for him, sacrificed himself so Vanyel could live.But his death would be paid for, and then…. And then Vanyel could join him.
Van clutched at Aarons hand in fear, who laughed. “Ashke… haven’t you ever noticed noticed before?”
Van looked up quickly recovering from his confusion “No… I mean I’ve noticed… things, here and there. But the idea was so… weird that I never thought.” He leaned his head on his partners shoulder “Now that I actually know… it’s kind of disturbing, but I’m glad you told me. I would follow you anywhere”
Aaron looked down at him with a soft smile “Still I would rather be fighting here with you, than living in peace without you.” At that Vanyel raised his eyebrow and looked up. “No I’m serious… Van… Ashke, really” the smile at his beloved grew.
Van looked away to hide his blush, but pressed harder against his lover. His brow creased momentarily, as he looked back up at Aaron “I would defend you to the death, from my ?”
Aaron had explained everything, things he swore he wouldn’t tell anyone… About the war, and his role in it, he told Van about others close by, others who might be able to help. Others of the fire and dark, who had hidden in waters realms, spies and assasins. He made his peace and let his Ashke, his Van hold him once more. Then… he died in his lovers arms.
